Wrap Up: July 2013

July was so busy, I honestly don't know how I got through so many books. :) Not regretting a second of this month! My favorite is definitely The Unwanted Wife. Totally unexpected and wonderful novel.

The strait-laced M.D. has his hands full with his career and his teenage daughter, and even if he were looking for a relationship, he knows Jenna is all wrong for him. So why does being with her feel so right?

Abigail Strom's novel, Cross My Heart, is all about connection. Can the workaholic father connect with the daughter who hates him? Can the wandering musician find it in her heart to fall in love? Can an emotional teenager take a chance on letting her feelings show? 

Michael and Jenna are the main characters of this touching novel, though Michael's daughter also plays a large, and influential, role. Michael is a distant father who dreams of connecting with his daughter, if only he knew how. He works constantly as a surgeon and barely finds time to think between patients and volunteering. Readers will love him, to say the least. When he meets Jenna (his temporary next-door neighbor), he longs to be close to her - in a way he's never been close to anyone. 

Jenna is a musician who let her heart get broken once, and doesn't want it to happen again. Especially if it means settling down. She's has a wayward spirit and fears getting tied down. Her relationship history will give readers a foundation while Jenna's helpful personality and giving heart strengthens the bond.

The plot of Cross My Heart is intriguing from the start. Throw in a teenager who tries to play cupid - and it quickly shifts to a book that's tough (if not impossible) to put down. I was laughing, squealing, and crying. Great, quick, read -- perfect for a weekend getaway carry along.
