A Tycoon's Secret by Avery Laval. In this third installment of the Sin City series, two old flames are reunited. With so much history and a broken promise, the two will either work it out or have to call it quits for good. I'm excited to read this juicy romance and switch up my reading list a little bit. If these summer thunderstorms lay off, maybe I can even enjoy a little outside reading! 🌞

Three Shoeboxes by Steven Manchester. With the short story teaser still fresh in my mind, I'm excited to have this new release up next in my reading list. Manchester's stories never disappoint and always leave me with a smile on my face. In this new book, Mac suffers from anxiety and PTSD which threatens to destroy his familial relationships, including his marriage. Hopefully, Mac will find a way to overcome his demons and save the life he used to love living.

Summer in a Cornish Cove by Kate Ryder. I got my copy for review and I'm ready to start it today! I have a three day weekend and reading and relaxing are at the top of my to-do list. I can't wait to start this later and read all about a famous movie star falling for a widow with two children. Though the falling in love part is just what I'm hoping, it has yet to be confirmed. What is everyone reading for their long weekend?

Summer in a Cornish Cove by Kate Ryder. Hopefully, I'll be putting this on my reading list soon! After a couple of serious reads, I'm ready to switch back to something easy and fun. Obviously, I like to keep my reading list guessing! haha. Seriously though, love stories and summer adventures are a great switch up after murder mysteries and dramas. In this book, a popular film star meets a widowed mother of two and it may just end up changing his, and her, life.

Mind Me, Milady by Anne Rothman-Hicks and Ken Hicks. Switching gears after my current read to another thriller/mystery. In this book, an attorney has been chosen to be the social contact of a serial killer, with the promise that one day she'll also be his victim. I'm excited to get to this one but I feel like it's going to be one of those books that demand breaks because of the fear factor.

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. My final class of grad school is here! Therefore, I'm prepping for my Master's Thesis. That means that up next on my reading list is this book, which I have never read before. I know, I know. I'm also shaking my head. :) But! I'm reading it now and paying very close attention to every detail.

Fallout Girl by Katie Rose Guest Pryal. I'm excited to start this one because it's a psychological thriller and I really enjoy reading those. But, I am getting ready for my last term of grad school so... who knows how many books I'll be able to choose while I'm finishing up. That means I have to make my choices great! And I think this one fits the bill as Miranda struggles with trust and constantly needing to escape to save herself, or so she thinks...

The French Adventure by Lucy Coleman. I'm hoping to add this one to my reading list because it sounds like such an easy and delightful read. A summer love story sounds perfect while waiting for warmer weather and lots of sunshine. Especially when these days are filled with to-do lists and errands and the need to spring clean.

Reading more books that aren't on a Grad School reading list! :) (Not that those books have been bad.)
And that starts with Intraterrestrial by Nicholas Conley. This book combines the medical world and the world of outer space with a young man in a coma and the alien who takes over his subconscious. I can't wait to get started on this book because it is such a unique and fresh story idea.

In a Jam by Cindy Dorminy. As I've enjoyed this author's previous books, I am super excited to start this one soon! Andie is set to inherit money from her grandmother... but there are a few stipulations. One is that she has to stick around a Georgia town long enough that she just might fall in love. That's the stipulation I'm most excited about. I might have to carve out a whole day to assign to this book! Then I won't have to put it down. :)

Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami. This book is the last full-length novel for the class I'm currently taking. This Japanese novel follows the love story and coming-of-age of Toru, a college student whose relationship is marked by his best friend's death years before. I'm excited to begin reading this book because I've really enjoyed reading other Japanese literature and Asian Literature throughout this class.

Land of Strength and Sorrow by Cassandra Fear. This is an epic fantasy novel, and the beginning of a series, that takes a Princess who dreams of adventure and thrusts her into the middle of a battle to save her kingdom. I haven't read a fantasy novel recently so I'm really looking forward to getting lost in another world for a while.

Years in an Instant by E.H. Nolan. This book is a sequel to Like a Closed Fist which I reviewed a couple of years ago. I'm excited to continue on with this main character, Pheobe, while she stumbles through falling in love as she tries to claim her adulthood.

Something of Substance by Tia Souders. The cover reveal of this book was just last week and I'm so ready to dive into actually reading the book. The main character, Grace, has an eating disorder and struggles to be pretty in her own eyes. In a contemporary society that is trying to break away from past definitions of beautiful, I think (and hope) this book will make an important statement about self-image.

Working Stiffs by Scott Bell. This book takes zombies to the next level! In this tale, living humans must compete with zombies for jobs and survival through societal means. This doesn't make life for Joe any easier. So, of course, he finds himself in league with a bunch of freedom fighters. This book sounds both creepy and humorous, not to mention suspenseful. We'll see if Joe has what it takes to destroy the working class of the dead.

Liar, Liar by Sarah Flint. When two police officers are murdered and both have a red rose beside them at the crime scene, Charlotte Stafford, detective, knows that this is only the beginning. And if she doesn't find the killer soon, they'll be more police officers turning into victims. I love a good mystery and it's been a while since I've read one so I'm really excited to start this one!

A Tycoon's Jewel by Avery Laval. Switching gears a bit with this book in the number two spot on the current reading list. It's time again for a bit of romance and this book promises that and more! Down-on-her-luck Jenna has no other choice but to ask her old frenemy, Grant, for a job in the bustling city of Las Vegas. Sparks fly and the rest is his-and-her-story, but I'll still have to read to find out. :)

And Then I am Gone: A Walk with Thoreau by Mathias Freese. This book is an exploration by the author to live a more simple life. As I'm always thinking about simplifying various aspects of my seemingly crazy life, I think this book might give me a little perspective. Or maybe it'll just offer some peace. :)

Beloved by Toni Morrison. Can anyone even believe that I've never read this book?? After studying creative writing for four years and nearly two years of grad school, I'm finally reading it. I'm very surprised that it hasn't popped up in any of my syllabi before now. But! Better late than never! I'm really excited to start this book. I've heard amazing things about it and am ready to dive in!
