She kicked off her sandals and walked down the steps of her beach house, grateful for San Diego's mild weather even in mid-October. And grateful she wouldn't have to walk far, with the ocean practically at her doorstep.

Enchanting. I'd love to walk out my door and be on the beach. Fall asleep to the waves crashing to the shore. I wonder if she just moved there?

Sounds like a beautiful scene. My husband and I spent a week in San Diego a couple of years ago and enjoyed the lovely weather. I'd enjoy visiting there again, even if it's only through a book!
