Evelyn dear Fender by Rodney Jones. I've read a few books by Jones and haven't been disappointed. He steps away from his usual time travel genre to journey to a mythical land. Evelyn dreams of finding Methania and sets off on a sailing adventure to succeed. Instead she finds herself wrecked on an island with Fender, who speaks a different language.
